ALBURY WODONGA & DISTRICTS CAR CLUB

come-and-try-motorkhana

AWDCC hold regular motorkhana events around the district, and further afield. Surfaces range from dirt and grass, to bitumen, racetrack quality tarmac and concrete. We are hosting a "come and try" dirt/grass motorkhana at the Wodonga Go-Kart track complex, and welcome anyone and everyone to have a go at this exciting form of motorsport.

When competing, drivers must attempt to complete the course correctly, and in the best time possible - achieving the best time possible does not mean spending excessive time with the wheels spinning and/or doing "donuts" - the driver who completes the test correctly, covering the shortest distance (staying tight in the turns) at the highest average speed will get the best time. Motorkhana driving is about smoothness and manouvering, anyone can go fast in a straight line, it takes real skill to win a motorkhana.

Competition vehicles have the basic requirement that they are essentially safe - and will be checked by club officials. Most competitors use a regular road car, some even competing in their daily driver on Sunday, and driving it to work again on Monday.

Seatbelts must fitted and in good condition (no tears, no frayed edges etc.)
Brakes must be working and in good condition
Bonnet, doors, windows and bootlid must be in proper order, and able to be opened/closed
Steering must be free from looseness and play
Wheel bearings must be in good condition

The club will have our shared club car (80's model Nissan Pulsar) available on the day, however the maximum number of drivers per car is limited - first in best dressed.

The event will consist of 6 motorkhana tests, with multiple attempts allowed at each test. 3 tests will be completed before a sausage sizzle lunch, and 3 tests will be completed in the afternoon.

Competitors must be 12 years of age or older, so it's a great way to teach the kids to drive, and get them started on the path to becoming a safe and responsible driver - understanding that public roads are DEFINITELY NOT the place for racing.

Entries will be accepted from 9am, and will be accepted throughout the day. Entries will be limited to 30 competitors

A special note about passengers in competition vehicles. Juniors normally have a parent or experienced driver as their passenger, providing instruction as they complete the course. If an adult driver requires an instructor, they must take an experienced club member as designated by the club.

Under no circumstances will competitors be allowed to drive with their friends or otherwise in the car while competing. Likewise, vehicles arriving at and leaving the event must do so in a sensible fashion, any illegal or irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated.

AWDCC officials reserve the right to refuse entry or remove a competitor from the event for any reason, and will retain any entry fees collected.

** Australian Autosport Alliance (AASA) provide the club with public liability insurance of $25,000,000 to cover personal injury claims in the event of an accident. Each competitor is required to hold a valid competition license when competing. On the day of this event, all competitors who do not hold a valid license must complete an application form, and pay the license fee to the club. At the end of the event for the day, if competitors aren't interested in competing in further events, then the license fee will be returned. If the competitor is involved in an accident or incident, the license fee will not be returned, and will be submitted to AASA with the completed application form.
